POLARIN Launches 2024 Transnational Access Call with Support from INTERACT NPA and INKODE

We are excited to announce the launch of the POLARIN 2024 Transnational Access (TA) Call for Proposals! As part of this global initiative, 49 of POLARIN's research infrastructures (RIs) will offer access to polar research facilities, including Arctic and Antarctic research stations, icebreakers, observatories, and more.

The POLARIN project is an international network dedicated to addressing scientific challenges in polar regions through integrated, interdisciplinary research. With a diverse range of infrastructures at both poles, the network is a key driver for innovative research on complex polar processes, such as sea ice dynamics, polar ecosystems, and atmospheric chemistry.

The 2024 TA Call is open for proposals that address one or more of the following research priorities:

  • Sea Ice and Polar Oceans in the Climate System

  • Polar Ice Sheets, Glaciers, and Sea Level

  • Terrestrial Carbon Cycle and Permafrost

  • Polar Ecosystems and Biodiversity

  • Atmosphere Dynamics and Chemistry

  • Paleoclimate Processes and Variability

  • Humans, Societies, and Global Changes

A Key Contribution from INTERACT NPA and INKODE

INTERACT Non Profit Association (NPA), in collaboration with INKODE, has played a pivotal role in the development of the POLARIN Transnational Access Platform (POLARIN TAP). This platform serves as the online system for proposal submissions, providing researchers with a seamless process to apply for access to POLARIN’s vast network of polar research infrastructures. The successful customisation of TAP ensures an efficient, user-friendly interface, enhancing the accessibility and management of the call.

Luisella Bianco, CEO of INTERACT NPA, commented, “We are proud to have contributed to the development of the POLARIN TAP platform, which will help researchers access critical polar research infrastructures. We hope this will lead to groundbreaking interdisciplinary studies that push the boundaries of our understanding of the polar regions.”

Important Dates & Application Details

The POLARIN 2024 Transnational Access Call will close on November 28th, 2024, at 4 pm CET. All proposals must be submitted through the POLARIN TAP platform by the deadline. No late submissions or submissions via other channels will be accepted.

For further information on the application process, research priorities, and detailed guidelines for applicants, please visit the POLARIN website.
